The Punjab and Haryana High Court has reaffirmed that once a litigant, acting through duly engaged counsel, withdraws proceedings in open court, such withdrawal cannot subsequently be disowned by imputing lack of instructions to the advocate, since the judicial process rests on the foundational presumption that statements made at the Bar are authorised and binding unless demonstrably vitiated by exceptional circumstances, and any contrary approach would erode procedural finality, impair courtroom discipline, and invite abuse of process through tactical retraction after adverse legal consequences become apparent.
